Tamara N. Shields

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Tamara N. Shields carries a lifetime of caregiving and unwavering dedication close to her heart. Her journey took a transformative turn when she became the emotional anchor for her daughter during a life-altering kidney transplant. That deeply personal experience became the catalyst for founding Doopa’s House of Care—a sanctuary where compassion, understanding, and hospitality come together to support patients and caregivers during their most vulnerable moments.

With decades of experience serving veterans and families in crisis, Tamara brings a unique blend of clinical insight and emotional intelligence to her leadership. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from American Military University and a Master’s degree in Human Services Counseling with a focus in Trauma Therapy, along with a professional certification in psychometry. Her work in psychological assessment has deepened her ability to foster empathy, trust, and stability—qualities central to the healing environment she envisions.

Tamara’s story is one of resilience and resolve—not just the foundation of this nonprofit, but a living testament to the belief that healing begins with open arms, open hearts, and a community that truly cares.
